Community rules & privacy

Repair safely, together

18+ only. Be honest and respectful. No stolen goods, weapons, illegal modifications, safety bypasses, harassment or spam. Meet publicly, preferably at a repair event. Never pay in advance for unseen work.

Mains voltage, gas, vehicle brakes/steering, swollen batteries, medical devices and lifts need qualified help. Do not attempt hazardous repairs based on comments. Repairs may affect manufacturer warranties. Back up and protect device data first.

Independent people, no middleman

werepair.fyi is a directory and community, not the repair service provider. Prices, parts and warranties are agreed directly and documented by the requester. There is no platform payment or insurance.

Organiser responsibilities

Confirm venue permission, accessible space, qualified supervision, electrical isolation, fire safety and first aid. Owners stay with devices; no items are left behind. Apprentices work only under supervision.

Privacy & moderation

Names, neighbourhoods, skills, request descriptions and reviews are public. Emails and phone numbers are private; phone numbers stay hidden until verification exists. Do not post home addresses, serial numbers, faces or private data in text or photos. Request photos are public but are never automatically copied to Wikimedia Commons or the wiki.

Report harmful content using the report links. The organiser may remove content or suspend an account. Appeals, account recovery, deletion and export requests are handled manually at hello@werepair.fyi. Public wiki edits follow MediaWiki history and licensing. Minimal incident records may be retained as required by law. No ads, trackers or sale of user data.
